Not even a pandemic could stop Terri and Wayne from having their dream of a beach wedding that was eight years in the making. On the shores of the Pelican Lakes Bay in Windsor, the two tied the knot among family and friends on a beautiful Colorado afternoon.

Both working as teachers, Terri and Wayne met working together and built a friendship. It wasn’t until they spent a night chatting at Perkins that Wayne knew he loved her and wanted more. Blending their families of three kids each, all of whom stood up as the bridal party, stories and poetry were shared through the day, along with laughs, smiles and tears of joy.

Terri and Wayne had originally planned to get married in San Diego, where she’s from, but COVID had other plans. Various restrictions made planning the wedding they dreamed of a challenge, so they decided to move the festivities to Colorado.

The bride and groom were toasted by the Man of Honor, Terri’s oldest son, who shared how happy he was to learn that the man his mother was dating was Wayne. The Best Woman, Wayne’s oldest daughter, read a poem about dinosaurs that she explained summed up Terri and Wayne’s relationship perfectly. Cake was cut, dancing ensued, and a good time was had by all.

The event site at Pelican Lakes Golf course is pretty spectacular, much like many of the unique venues north of Denver. Offsite from the main clubhouse, it’s set on an island in Pelican Lakes Bay. With several beaches and treed landscaping, it truly is an island oasis perfect for bringing family and friends together in celebration. Tony and I were honored to be a part of this magical day!
